The Shanghai--Rhone·Alps Mediation Center (hereinafter referred to as the mediation center) held a symposium attended by part of the Chinese mediators at our Commission on July 28, 2006.

　　The mediators participated have fully expressed their suggestions on the mediation center’s future works, mainly include the following aspects:

　　1. The setup of the mediation center conforms to the requirements of the ever enlarged economic and trade cooperation between China and France, and the development perspective is good;

　　2. The mediation center shall, through various kinds of platforms, actively communicate with relevant Chinese and French enterprises, especially those located in Shanghai, and organize some large-scale publicity campaigns attended by Chinese and French entrepreneurs;

　　3. The French Chamber of Commerce, Shanghai Branch, and the French Enterprises Association have wide connections with the French business circle, and the mediation center may enhance the cooperation, for example, jointly organize the breakfast meeting, lectures and other publicity and promotion activities, with them to jointly push forward the mediation career which will benefit the settlement of the economic disputes between Chinese and French enterprises;

　　4. The development of the mediation center shall not be anxious to achieve quick success and get instant benefits, but shall follow the principles of“Proceeding in an orderly way and step by step, and accumulated in a long-term period”.

　　The deputy director Wang Zude expressed his appreciations on the suggestions provided by the mediators, made an introduction on the construction of the mediation center’s website, the accumulation of materials, and other recent working situations, and expressed that the Chinese party will be active in pushing forward the work of the mediation center.
