More than 20 law students of La Trobe University School of Law, accompanied by Mr. Chen Jianping, the arbitrator of Shanghai Arbitration Commission and the professor of the Law School of Shanghai University, visited Shanghai Arbitration Commission in the afternoon of 22nd Jan to study the legal system of arbitration and operation of arbitral institutions in PRC.

　　Staffs of Shanghai Arbitration Commission made an introduction to the foreign guests of the legal system of arbitration in PRC and the general situation of the development of arbitration in PRC since the Arbitration Law came into effect 11 years ago. A brief introduction of the operation and development of Shanghai Arbitration Commission is also made to the foreign guests. Staffs also answered questions concerning the appointment of arbitrators, the formation of arbitral tribunal, the process in the combination of arbitration and mediation and its effectiveness, the independence of arbitration and its safeguard in procedure law and legal framework, etc.

　　Students of La Trobe University School of Law were also shown around the office and hearing rooms of Shanghai Arbitration Commission. Students had a general concept of the legal system of arbitration in PRC with the visit, and appreciated Shanghai Arbitration Commission’s ideal of Putting Faith First, Putting Honesty Principal and Putting Harmony Precious.
